1911A1 Parts Gun-Value?
Anybody know anything about this frame manufacturer? It seems to be aluminum, or an alloy. The rest of the parts are steel. Finish is fair-good. Bore looks good, no pits, strong rifling. Guy wants to sell this, but I have no idea what it's worth. Any history, comments and most of all, value, would be most appreciated.

Hello some of the best 1911 pistols are made from a good quality slide and frame and then using quality parts fitting these small parts to each other. [^] However some of the worst pistols are also made the same way but do not use quality parts and the parts are not fitted properly. [:(] on top of that they can be put together and end up UNSAFE . Think of it as buying a used car that has had the Engine rebuilt the Transmission rebuilt and steering and brakes replaced now you are going to drive it on a long trip at night . does it run like a new car or does the engine blow up transmission lock in reverse steering pull to the left and brakes dont work. . It this case I can tell you it is a Colt Slide a Colt Military replacement barrel and a So So quality frame .It also looks like the finish has been ground /sanded off to get ready to refinish but VERY POORLY done if the person that worked on the finish put the parts together I would not want to ever fire the thing . It would be worth about $200.00 for parts . If you have built a bunch of 1911 pistols and have a bunch of good quality parts then it could be good for parts to build a pistol. 0 -
A & R Sales were in business during the 70's in Southern Calif. The alloy frames they made were sold cheaply, and didn't have a good reputation for durability or quality workmanship.
Because of this the potential problems due to battering the frame are substantial. Unless you use recoil buffers and a heavy duty recoil spring, I definitely wouldn't be do much shooting with this pistol. Don't buy it unless you can get a real sweet BIL deal on it.0 -
Thanks, guys. The more I looked at it, the less I liked it. Especially the frame. I think I'll pass on it.
