Good scope for a Mauser

I have a 39 turk 8mm mauser. I mounted a Tasco 6-24 x 50 scope on it. It has the range compensator from 0 to infinity. I sighted it in and it wont stay sighted in. So im thinking my mauser is to much gun for this scope. What are you guys opinion on a decent cheaper scope that will hold for the 8mm caliber.

    8mm is a "real" caliber, as powerful as a .30-06 or more so, and low end scopes really won't take that sort of a pounding and hold a zero.

    "Decent" and "cheaper" don't usually go together when you are talking about scopes.

    If you want a quality scope to stand up to 8mm Mauser loads, you're going to have to spend a bit.

    Its hard to go wrong with a low-end Burris scope (eg a 3-9x fullfield), though it will likely cost more than your rifle (eg around $200).

    The three price competitive scopes that I reccommend are the Burris Fullfield II, Sightron SII, and the Nikon Buckmaster, all in the 3-9x40 variation. Those are all the minimum scope I will put on anything.

    Burris is the standout as far as warranty goes...it has a forever warranty that they stand behind. Sightron is a young company, but has very good products, at competitive prices, and I hear thay they are stand ups too, with their warranty if ever needed. Nikon...well that name speaks for itself when it comes to optics of any type. However, should you ever need to use their warranty, make sure all your ducks are lined up...warranty registration cards on file, etc.

    like I said, these are MINIMUM's. You can put on a lesser Tasco, Simmons, Bushnell if you desire, but you will eventually be replacing them, most likely at a very inconvenient time.

    Yeah i figured i would have to spend some money to get a decent scope. Thanks for the replies.

    I'm not going argue with the scope replacement suggestion but while doing so recheck everything on your mounting system. Unless the scope was defective out of the box, it wouldn't fail so soon. I have customers who will not buy anything but Tasco even after hearing about their quality issues. So far, I've not seen a single one of those guys' Tasco back over the counter.
