question on a Siyh & Wesson #439
Good day all, I went into a shop the other day and a very nice S&W Model 439 BLUE of course 9-mm , with the ajust sights, just plain nice looking gun, I know when they 1est started making the model -39 - 9mm they made a round a bit under a 1000 solid steel pistols, when she handed it to me it sure felt / looked / and she told me it was a all steel even the frame???? ( PLEASE IF ANY OF YOU PRO'S HAVE ANY AND ALL INFO (PLEASE SEND AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, THIS WOULD BE GREAT) THANKS.
but quickly took it back from me in a very rude manner, and as she was putting into the display case she noticed me taking a closer look at it and once again took it out of the case and put it behind the counter and told me she did not want me seeing the SN#s, (Not once did she ask me if I had a interest in buying it?) the price marked on it was $559.00
but then asked me if she could show me anything else. very strange?

The 439 is whats called a 2nd generation pistol, it has a alloy frame just like the original 39. The 539 model is the one with the steel frame. It's much less common. $559.00 doesn't seem to me to be that great a price for a 439, the way things are in the toilet nowadays. 0 -
Well, actually, a small quantity of early M39's were sold with steel frames, & can bring a premium price today.
The early M439's had a rounded trigger guard, & these could be considered collectible. Plus, there were a few other minor variations, none bringing a significant premium.
The clerk's rudeness was unforgiveable. Didn't want you to see the SN? That's crazy! Sadly, this kind of incident is not that unusual. I have seen several gunshops in my area go out of business due to similar behavior; a love of guns doesn't make a store prosper when the owner has no business or people skills.

Boy, she sounds like a heck of a gun salesman...once a customer expresses interest in a gun she snatches it back and hides it behind the counter! I would have told her to stick it up her butt and walked out of there. 0
