Check out the Arsenal Saiga rifles being sold by www.k-var.com
These are converted Saiga's that take standard AK magazines.

    $599 for a SGL21-61.

Why not just convert your saiga to a pistol grip conversion and put a bullet guide in and then its pretty easy to get the ak mags to work well in it. Heres a link if it might be something of interest to you.

I currently own a Saiga AK 47 and have been considering trading it in for a traditional Russian or Romanian pre-ban AK. The gun works great and is in great condition. Here is some of my thinking. I am finding accessories and additional magazines difficult to find for this gun and have noticed that there are many more options for the traditional AK's. Just one example is the 30 rd. mags I have found for the Saiga are very pricey, as opposed to the traditional Ak's that you can get mags for fairly easy. Hence the incentive to trade for the older version. My fears however are that if I do trade that I will getting a lesser quality gun, though the parts may be cheaper and easier to find. One additional point is that I would like a pistol gripped stock and I am noticing that for a Saiga it is not a real possibility. What are your thoughts?

    A few points:

-As mentioned, its possible to convert Saiga rifles into AK-like configurations, including those that will take a standard AK pistol grip.

-If you don't want to bother, low-end double-stack Romanian AKs can be had new-in-box right now for about $400.

-Most important from my perspective, the fact that AKs "can" take more accessories/magazines/doo-dads is interesting, though irrelevant.

You can only have so many magazines, so many slings, bayonets, etc, and you can only have your gun set up one particular way at a time.

If you set up the gun the way you like, it doesn't matter if it "can" take a variety of other accessories. . .you won't need 'em.
