Where can I find plans for converting a Remington 58X series bolt action from rimfire to centerfire?

    You will not find any... rimfire rifles with very rare exception can not be converted to centerfire due to a number of reasons (strength & size of the action being the primary concerns).

    I don't know of any blueprints or machinists' drawings for the conversion but the 5mm rimfire 591 and 592 were converted to centerfire with the Craig and Schroeder kits. If you could find one of their kits, you could apply the design it to a 581 to make a teeny short centerfire action out of it.

    It looks like a foolish thing well done.
    Well done, but still foolish.
    I'd be interested in hearing more from someone who as made this conversion and has long term experience with it.
