Remington Ammo!

I purchased a few boxes of Remington ammo for my 30-06 today, and to my amazement, the quality sucked! I have used Remington in the past with no problems. The box that I opened the brass was dirty and dented, the bullets were tarnished and the seating depth was different on all cartridges!! I usually handload, but I am running low on primers, so I thought that I would buy a few boxes to get me by. Has their quality control gone top the wayside? Or did I just get a bad batch?

    All tree boxes came from Wal-Mart.

    I recently bought a box of winchester 308 for the same reason at the same place with the same out come,And wal-mart fix the problem forget it, finding a number to get in touch with winchester to complain yeah right

    Hi Laylandad,

    I bet you will find a difference in accuracy too if you compare the factory Remington cartridges to your reloads, in favor of your reloads.

    I will not use Remington brass in my firearms any longer because of accuracy testing I have performed comparing Remington brass reloads to 1970s South Korean military brass reloads. In other words, the only difference in the reloads was the brass. The South Korean brass far outperformed the Remington brass so much so that the group size was obviously smaller than the Remington brass. Thinking something was wrong I repeated the test two more times with the same results.

    I think with the buying panic, some ammunition companies have started to put anything out on the market to fill the demand.

    I think there is something amiss here and you need to look into it with Remington. Here is the contact information for the Ammunition Services group:

    My suggestion is to send them an e-mail with pictures of the ammunition and the defects so you don't waste your time trying to describe the faults to a customer service person on the phone, who could care less.

    Fore go the knee-jerk reaction to just pick up the phone and call someone to complain. Use the contact information of the Winchester website and handle it in a business-like manner.

    I have no idea what the basis was for testing and I don't need to but I know dozens of top competitors that use Remington brass of various flavors and win with it. It can't all be bad or your testing was flawed. But it makes no sense to argue about that. Your loss, our gain.

    I bought 2 boxes 30-06 180 Remington Core-Lokt and they work fine.I shoot my first deer this season with them at 125 yards no problem dropped him in his tracks.I did get them from Dicks sporting goods after rebate the where 9.95 A box.

    I got a few boxes of .223 a while back that were Remington. The rim was thinner than on my other .223 ammo from various manufacturers. It would not extract from my Bushmaster M-4. However, oddly enough it works fine in my Mini 14's. Needless to say I have steered clear of Remington .223 since then.
