Redfield Scopes

Can anyone tell me who works on vintage Redfield USA made scopes? Appreciate any info.. Terrill.

    Does anyone know if redfield still honor the lifetime warranty on thier old scopes "before they were bought out" i have a 3-9x50 thats got blurry all of a sudden...thanks in advance

    Redfield Lo-Profile Widefield 3x9 was the first rifle scope I owned. Tough optics, held zero no matter what. 60's through mid to late 80's Widefields from Colorado was a quality scope in its day, not really equivalent to the top European scopes of the same era but much like what Leupold and Burris are today.

    No matter how well constructed they were/are, they don't compare, today, to even the lower cost scopes as far as brightness and clarity go. Lenses and coatings are just plain better today. However, when constructing an "era" rifle nothing looks quite as good as an old Redfield sitting on top.

    In all area's of the Northern Zone in NY, as well as a lot of area's now in the Southern Zone, rifles are allowed. I own 1365 acres in the foot hills of the Adirondacks, and I have a 20,000 acre chunk of public land that borders me. There are several in the area. The NYS DEC website has links to all of the public land.

    If Weavers were the Fords of scopes in their era, then Redfields must have been the Buicks. Sadly time has treated neither company well, and their products have declined as well. Leupold recently bought Redfield so better days may be on the horizon. I have one of the old 4x widefield (tv screen) Redfields, but the coatings these days make my Burris scopes so much better, I seldom mount in on anything but a .22.

    Redfield might see light again as a brand name under Leupold, but unfortunately, most of its products will be imported, instead of being made here...in the U.S.A.

    Leupold has stated that the scopes will be US Made in Beaverton.

    There's an article on the new Redfield in the issue of Shooting Times that came in the mail yesterday. The scope is a 3-9X and they say it'll retail for $149!

    If that is the case, Redfield will remain low end and Leupold is just trying to get a peice of the discount market. Too bad.

    I just put a old redfield 2-7 widefield on my mannlicher Ruger 44 carbine. Couldn't be happier as it remains light weight with plenty of magnification
