    I've used turpetine abd 0000 steel wool.

    You'll likely need to re-blue the parts. Not easy for a DIY project. Checkout Guncote from Brownells. You spray it on and then bake it. Choice of colors.

    Buy a carding brush from Brownells (get the big one) and get to carding... Or, if you're wanting to speed it up, get a carding wheel from Brownell's, put it on the appropriate speed motor and get to carding... I have blended some 'blue and rust' on some pretty rough and rusty guns these ways. Good luck!

    I'm sure there is rust inside also ! I see a few of these guns each year . What I do is sand off as much rust as I can , then I put them in my blasting cabinet and rough them up and put a Teflon/Moly finish on the inside and out. It will not rust again , should you have another brain cramp. I have done a bunch of them for waterfowlers and they love it !
