reblue post 64 94 30-30
I know this has been asked a hundred times but some reason I cant find it in search,I must not be asking for the right word,I know this is a 200 gun.I know when refinished it will still just be a 200 gun. I know most home cold blues like Blue Wonder will not work on these recievers. Now with that all said I just picked up this 94 and most all the finish is off of the reciever, no rust,no pits just the blue is gone and I wlike to try some home refinish. Barrel,tube and wood are all like new ,any ideas, I like to tinker with junk and wanted to try this just to see if I could make it look better,Who sells what that may work without turning it purple.

I would paint it with one of the bake on finishes...
Back in the tiny recesses of my mind it tells me that the receiver is going to be a tough one to reblue with normal stuff.........0 -

Just to be different, maybe you could remove the rest of the finish and give it a "distressed" look. I have considered doing that to one of mine. That failure of the finish on your receiver is common to those.

Not the early ones. When the U.S.R.A.Co. went back to using a milled steel receiver frame, then yes, it is possible to case color them. The early post 1963 receiver frames were made of "sintered" (cast) steel.0 -
ceramacoat works real well. i re-did a luger and a 1911 with it.
you have to bake it for an hout at 350 degrees, so you'd have to take the rifle apart to fit the kitchen oven. btw, it doesn't leave a solvent smell, that's the first thing the mrs will ask.[;)]
i think it only comes in matte black, but durabake has multiple color choices.0
