how does one go about take-down/clean this

    Your pistol is known as the Dura-matic.

    1), Pull back the slide and lock open by pushing safety button to left.

    2), Unscrew barrel nut in front of trigger guard, remove barrel

    3), Disengage safety while holding slide, let it run forward pulling the trigger at the same time. This disengages sear from trigger.

    4), Remove the two springs and striker from slide.

    This is as far as you need to go to clean a Dura-matic.

    thank you .olny one thing barrl screw is tight real tight.
    any suggestions as not to infeck damage.

    The last one I worked on had a large slot in the barrel nut. I used a quarter to loosen and tighten the barrel nut. I supposed if some gorilla who didn't know his own strength tightened it. You could very carefully clamp it upside down in a padded jaw vise. Use a large screwdriver that was a tight fit in the barrel nut slot, clamp a vise grip on the shank of screwdriver and muscle it out.
