91/30 Pu or a Psl54????

Hi guys, I'mm just wondering about general opinions of the 91/30PU sniper & the PSL 54. I realize they are from different era's. I'm thinking of getting one of them. I've read good and bad of both of them. I have held a PU and it wasnt bad, the optics surprised me how bright and clear it was, but at current prices for the possible clones out there($450+) i'm wondering if the Psl would be a much better weapon/bargin as they can be had for around $579 and up. But i'm also curious about how accuracy compares between them. I've seen a lot about the PSL out of the box between 1.5 & 2.5 moa, but havent read anything about the PU. Whats your thoughts guy's[?][?]

PS are production dates of the PSL's known?? - im just wondering because of the USSNY AWB(hanging head) yeah i live in New York[V]

    I have a PSL, and a PU scoped Finn M39, both will hit what I'm aiming at with good milsurp ammo. Both tested out to 800 meters.
    Only complaints I have with the PSL, is the crappy AK trigger they come with. It's getting replaced with a Red Star Arms adjustable.
    Heavy ball ammo will beat it, and you, to death, light ball only! And it has a short length of pull, with springs under the steel buttplate for recoil. Already replaced that with a extended rubber recoil pad. Big improvement!
    I haven't experienced the complaint of the groups opening up as the barrel heats up. Hits the same spot cold or hot.
    Comes with a 4X POSP scope, but better scopes and higher magnification are available. The built in rangefinder works just like it's suppose to. It sits left of center, so every click of elevation requires the same number of clicks in windage, annoying, but it works.

    The Mosin prefers heavy ball, but does almost as well with light ball. Trigger wise, the Finn has an advantage over the 91/30's with a "pinned" trigger, but that can be replaced or modified.
    The PU scope is a fixed 3.5X, and it's the only thing that fits the mount. It does have near unlimited adjustment using just the mount. I found that to get consistent results with it, you have to make sure you have the same eye relief and sight picture with each shot. Kind of hard to explain until you use one.
    Make sure the PU mount is steel, the alloy ones will break.

    Are the PSL's built off new reciever's or would they be considered pre-1994(would be an issue with Ny's awb)[?]

    New receivers, that's why the model name change to 54. ATF came down on CAI for selling ex select fire receivers with the select switch lever hole welded up. The bayo lug is ground off, and the threaded muzzle brake is welded on now too.

    Well, i guess with the welded brake and the cut lug, there shouldnt be a problem with it, It has the 10rd mag which is ok, but i think the stock would be considered either a thumb hole, or a pistol grip and that would be the 1 item the rifle could have, if i understand the NYS Awb correctly.

    Here in Calif the stock is considered a pistol grip. I had a choice of a funky looking replacement stock, or a fixed magazine. The law says the magazine has to be riveted in place, or require a tool to remove it. Replaced the mag release with a Bullet Button that requires the tip of a bullet to release it.
