There are dozens of different firms making AR type receivers and nearly as many making complete rifles. Avoid anything marked Vulcan or Hesse as these have a poor reputation for quality. When this same subject came up last week we had two guys instantly jump on the Hesse bandwagon saying that their rifles worked great...Good for them.

Colt. Some may gripe about the price, but if you ever decide to sell you will quickly see that it will retain its value, plus they have been making them for the military for 10 trillion years, they are good.

CMMG is one of my favorite companies.

The basics that make a dependable AR is the right weight buffer, A chromelined bolt carrier thats properly headspaced, a stianless gas tube, and a chromelined decent quality barrel..

If a rifle or carbine has these things then It should be as realible as any other.

Excluding guns that have been custom fitted and some tollarances tweaked.
