Year my Model 66 was made

Can anyone tell me the age of the gun I have ? It is a Smith Wesson Model 66-4 3 inch barrel Serial number BUF9618 I think it may have been made in the late 80's but I bought it new in the 90's.Thanks for your help, Jerry

  You can call and ask Smith.

  Thanks someone wrote me already and told me it was made in 1995, Think they had a book they looked it up in.

  You need to call Smith and Wesson. It could be anything from 94-00. What they will tell you is when it was shipped. It could have been made one month or a few years before that.
