just found a bullet from a civil war battle ground it has 2 stars and 5 in 1 on the casing the end is crimped like pistol bird shot it is a centerfire bullet looks to new for civil war stuff any info about this bullet would be greatly appreciated

    Most likely it was a blank for a re-inactment. The two stars should give it away...the brass was made by Star-Line.

    I forgot to ask, was there a movie or re-enactment at that site in the past? If so, that's likely the source.

    I just got thinking about your question again. Depending on the battlefield, there's a GOOD chance it's a designated historical site. If it is, NO items found may be removed, NO searching for relics/artifacts with metal detectors, nothing that would enable you to find or remove artifacts. The item you found is definitely NOT a Civil War relic, but I don't know if that would matter to the bureaucratic administrator of the site.

    There are lots of Civil War battle fields and Camp sights that are in the hands of private owner.Most States have no problem with Relic Hunting on them! Relic Hunting on Federal Land is A BIG NO NO !!!
