The sight in the link you provided is a Mid-range vernier tang sight, and in the later production years, it was listed as a No. 38-A.

The tang sight hole spacing for most of the Winchester firearms was 2.175 inches. For most of the Stevens rifles, the hole spacing was 1.50 inches. The extra (third) hole in the sight you refer to is not original, and it was added to adapt the sight intended for a Winchester to fit the Stevens rifle you found it on. Unfortunately, that extra hole in the sight base and the refinish work has destroyed a fair amount of the collector value.

Thanks for the info. Mine is in good condition other than the refinish and hole. What is a fair price for this sight. I looked in a few books and saw that nice originals go for $600 to $1000 depending. Is mine somewhere in the $200 - $300 range. Thanks again.

With the refinish and the extra hole, you would being doing real well to get $100 for it. High quality reproduction sights sell for $200 or so.
