Webley unit markings

My Webley Mark VI carries two markings on the backstrap, both of which appear to be unit markings. The second one, near the butt, I researched and figured out: "6 J.L.I. 28" = 6th Jat Light Infantry (a unit of the British army in India) weapon #28. But I can't figure out a separate marking higher on the backstrap: "K.A" and "6.17" I guess I assume the 6.17 means June of 1917 but I'm not sure about the K.A. Any ideas?
