Ruger M77 RSS 250 Savage ?

Just traded into Ruger 77 tang safe with iron sights in a 250 savage.The metal is about 90% and the wood is 80% it has been hunted but still a real nice little rifle. My question is, how rare are these and what are they worth?

    I happen to like the older tang safety rifles better than the M77 MkII but still less than the new Hawkeye rifles. The .250 Savage cartridge (.250-3000) is an excellent, mild cartridge for all kinds of general purpose hunting and shooting.

    I can't image that any Ruger is collectible since they are usually manufactured in excessively large numbers. They are tools, not what I would call 'rare'.

    Serial number would be most helpful. Is it a flatbolt? 77RS .250 Flatbolts are known in the 70-49771 to 70-51569 range, they are very rare.

    The 77RS roundbolt without the warning on barrel are also very rare.

    Like everything else, condition, condition, condition, drives the price.

    The serial # 71-04072. Its not a flat bolt, but it is a pre warning. It is the first one that I have seen with sights.

    you have a fairly scare gun due to open sights.the above mentioned flatbolts are the real scarce versions. what are your plans for it? can you email me good pics if you plan to sell/trade/auction? rrhogueiii@aol.com.thanks

    As scottsdaleping said the Flatbolts get all the attention. However, the M77RS .250 Round bolt without Liberty or Warning rollmark on the barrel; from the info I have "The Red Eagle News Exchange" a fairly up to date compilation of Ruger firearms; is very rare. As a matter of fact, yours is only the second one that has been reported. The other is in the same SN range as yours 71-03698. I'm sure there are others, not many.

    Again condition is everything, and then only to the collector that needs it. That being said their aren't a lot of M77 collectors out there. Still a very nice gun and a pleasure to shoot.

    I'm curious, does yours have a 24" medium weight barrel? I have a M77RS .257 Roberts in the 70-46XXX SN range and it has the 24" MW barrel.

    any and all m77's in every version of cal 250 i have seen/heard of have been 22 in light taper barrels.would like to see/hear about others if they exist.thanks.

    This barrel is 22 inches long, But it has the medium taper.

    hi, ruger made no rifles in 22 in medium taper barrels, they were called light or standard taper.a medium taper barrel would be like early 257 rob,7 mag, all 25-06,300 win,338 win etc. could you send me a picture,thanks. you have a very nice rifle, will you be selling? i would be interested w/pics. merry xmas.
