Colt 1903.32 auto verses Iver Pony .380

I'd like opinions on these two models, including value of an unfired Iver.

I own a Colt 1903 in .32auto that I would say has 50% bluing, I believe the bluing was damaged by blood, absolutely no pitting or signs of any rust, the gun dates to 1915. A friend wants to trade for it and is offering an unfired Iver Pony in .380, in the box with all original papers.

I bought the Colt for my wife to shoot and she doesn't care for it, the Iver being smaller she might like it better, be kinda a shame to get an unfired one knowing we will shoot it but I'm thinking of making the trade. How do the Iver Ponys shoot?

Who do you think is ahead on an even trade? Other thoughts?

    Normally I would say keep the colt But with only 50% bluing I think I would go with the pony. Not many IVER collectors "Sorry Mr. Goforth" but a new pistol VS a 50% one that your wife does not like I think tips the scale.

    I currently own a .380 Colt hammer less and I used to own a IJ pony back in the 80's. I had a blued one and I had it five or six years before I sold it. Based on my experience:

    Quality- The Colt hands down. Put together better, slimmer, holds one extra round than the Pony and resale value is higher.

    Accuracy- tie. The pony was surprisingly accurate and fed different types of ammo with no problems. Same for the Colt.

    Reason I sold the IJ pony. For some reason the slide would wear out the top of the magazines and after a while it would not feed anymore. Whenever I bought a new mag this problem would disappear entirely until the mag started wearing again. It would start out as a slight gouging and then progressively get worse until the pistol would not function anymore.Maybe someone on this board may have a simple remedy for it or can explain it better than me.

    I really liked the Pony (Its sorta like a shrunken Star PD). If it wasn't for the mag problem I would have kept it. Hope this helps in your decision.

    Before doing any swapping I'd see if the wife even likes the Iver.

    Personally if the Colt were mine I'd get it re-finished (Doug Turnbull). I recon your friend would do as I'm thinking (then re-sell it and make a mint [:D]). Come to think of it he doesn't seem like a "friend" [:D].

    Thanks for the thoughts guys, I made the trade. Once I got looking at it it was really talking to me, more hopefully the wife likes it. My bud threw in a bunch of ammo too and even if he is ahead on this deal I'm good with that, he has hooked me up with some pretty amazing scores in the past (like a $25.00 Marlin 336rc in 35rem a few months back).

    Anyhow I'll schedule a time to take the wife to the range a see how this thing shoots. Thanks agian for the thought they are greatly appreciated.
