I lusted after a .44 Magnum Marlin 336 when I was a teenager, but couldn't begin to afford one. Marlin offered the model called the Marlin Marauder in 16-1/4" barrel length commonly in .30-30 and .35 Rem. I remember the .44 Magnum offering also, but it must not have worked very well in the long-action-length 336, and didn't stay long in the line. A few years later Marlin came out with the short-action Model 1894 in .44 Magnum. By then I had a job and could buy one; I still have it.

The Marauder carbine is listed at 16-1/4", but in 30-30 and .35 Rem, not showing a .44 mag.

As stated, Gun Traders Guide lists Marlin 336 Marauder as being same as the Model 336 Texan Carbine except with a 16.25 barrel, weight 6.25 lbs, made 1963-64. My book says $250 to $450 depending on condition but that book is a couple of years out of date and that seems low.
