Scope choice for a Browning BLR 7MM Rem Mag
I am buying a Browning BLR in 7MM Rem Mag with the hopes of going Elk hunting next year with my Son-in-law, so that is reason I bought the 7MM for more FPS & FPE for the longer shot. I was thinking about a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x40 or a 4x12x50 or a 4.5-14x40 Nikon with the BDC reticle. The gentleman I am buying the gun from has shot 5IN groups @ 700 Yards. I want to be able to reach and touch an Elk with a solid shot, I probably would not take a shot over 400 yards unless the conditions were very good and the animal was a nice trophy as well. I know there are bigger and more powerfully cartridges out there but we both have a 7mm Rem Mag, and am not looking to start a cartridge debate.
A little more info I haven't been deer hunting in about 12 years but am planning on doing some more hunting in the near future. I live in North Texas and the White tail are not that big here.
I also have a BLR in .308 with a Redfield 3x9x40? Widefield on it.
Your help on a scope selection would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
Welcome to the forums here on Gunbroker.
I like the scopes you are talking about, and have 2 or 3 of them myself. However, should one need it, Nikon is very picky with their warranty....the card must be filled out and sent in...the wind must blow right, and etc. I experienced it with a couple early Buckmaster's in the 4.5-14 with a Mil-dot reticle.
Since then, I have used the Burris and Sightron name for my workhorse scopes, and NightForce for my serious long range stuff.
The Burris I have used are the Fullfield II, and Signature Select series. The Sightron is the SII series. Either one you will not go wrong with for their performance or warranty....NightForce...well that name speaks for itself.
