Winchester Ammunition Question --Headstamps
As far as I know, headstamps on Winchester 9mm cases typically say "WCC" to indicate Winchester Cartridge Company as the manufacturer. Does anyone know when they stopped or started using "WIN" instead of "WCC"?

Thank you. That is consistent with what I'm looking at. I have WCC on my issued duty ammunition which I'm looking at as I sit behind my desk. I'm also looking at some commercially loaded stuff that says WIN. I wasn't sure if one could be judged to be older than the other based on the difference. Thank you. 0 -
IIRC, and without looking at any references, WCC is WESTERN Cartridge Company (a division of Winchester Olin). 0 -

Thanks. I should have known that. Learn something new everyday. I realized something though. The ammo I carry in my M-11 at work is not obtained through the normal military procurement process. It says WCC, year of manufacture, and caliber. It's normal commercial stuff and it's JHP. That's why I thought there might have been a specific year that the commercial stuff changed from one to the other (i.e. which come first--the WCC or the WIN?). Then again, I was issued the stuff I carry at work so I didn't follow it from the point where it was born to my magazines today. I do know it's been issued to other folks in the past. 0 -

"Normal" comericial dosn't carry the date. It's contract ammo.
The 2 companies used to be independent, when they merged under the Olin umbrella, they were briefly known as Winchester-Western (with the headstamp "W-W").
The HP is odd, unless they're leaning on some "not being used in civilized combat" type of exemption to the Hague convention (IE we are not fighting a uniformed army??).0
