are they worth anything

hi i was wondering i just inherited 3 mosin nagants from my grandfather when he passed away they are the 91/30 ,m44 ,and a m38.the 91/30 has a detachable bayonet and a round receiver the m44 has a attached bayonet with a round receiver and the m38 does not have a bayonet an has a round receiver they all have the soviet union symbol on the top of the receivers and everything is original as far as i know they all also have the original cleaning kits and im sorry there is no pictures of them yet because i had to drive 3 hours back to massachusetts from maine so i can talk to my wife into letting me have them so she sed yes so when i go up this saturday for a christmas party with the family ill take them back up and take pictures but till then im sorry but they all shoot i have shot them more then i can remember and they still work perfect. all i want to know is there actually worth something other then the sentimental value to the family so thank you and i hope to here from somebody soon

    There are so many M-Ns around if you give more that $100 for one, you're over paying. But, if they were your grandfather and they have sentimental value to you, then you can't put a price on them.

    yeah an my family does have alot of russian in it but would it be worth it in the long run to start collecting them because i know were i can buy them up in maine for a like 75 bucks per rifle because i do love the guns there simplicity an i love the looks of them too

    There's a difference between "collecting" and "accumulating". Just because a rifle is cheap, that doesn't mean that it is "collectible".

    Most M-N's in this country have been used, abused, rebuilt, and/or mutilated. If you want to get some books & learn more about these rifles, & restrict your purchases to those in original condition without import markings, they may be worth collecting. Otherwise, those you inherited will be all you ever need.

    If anything, buy up a couple hundred dollars worth or more of ammo NOW, as with the Obamanation, import, surplus may go away. Keep your eye out for a spectacular condition one,espec. a Finnish rework if you choose, but as said, most of them are pretty run of the mill.

    While *SOME* Mosin Nagants are collectible and have increased value (if they are Finnish, if they are particularly old, if they are "sniper" type guns, if they have some particular provenance that is interesting, etc), these guns were literally put out by the million, and more likely than not, none of yours have any extra value.

    The date of manufacture should be on the receiver of your guns. Figure that the WWII era guns have almost all been "re-arsenaled" (ie refinished and cleaned up) and have no real collectors value.

    I'd figure up to $100 for the 91/30, and maybe $125 each for the two shorter guns, assuming all three are in good shape.

    But as mentioned, as your Grandfathers, they might have more sentimental value than monetary value.

    Shoot them and enjoy them.

    If you've never actually shot one, watch out. . .they put out quite a bit of recoil and noise!

    I am curious, as to whether you attended second and third grades.
    You know, where they taught how to capitalize words, use periods, and paragraphs.
