22 magnum
WHY ISN'T THE 22 MAGNUM USED FOR SEMI AUTO HANDGUNS? IT'S BALLISTICS ARE BETTER THAN A 32, COMPARAREABLE TO THE "NEW" 32 MAG, BETTER THAN 380'S AND FAR BETTER THAN 22'S AND I NEDEDN'T EVEN COMMENT ON A 25.?
I DON'T GET IT. It would seem that the only problem would be over penetration which could easily be solved by bullet type. What am I missing?
Dave
PS In case you can't tell I think it's a far under rated round.

I'm looking for a tube-fed 22 magnum bolt action or semi-auto rifle. Any suggestion on the best for the money? 0 -

Absolutely not true.
Grendel made a 30 shot .22 WRM auto pistol in the middle 1990s. They worked well.
Keltec has recently announced a new version-a 30 shot .22 WR
M pistol that weighs 19 ounces fully loaded.0 -
Excel Arms makes the accelerator MP-22.
A Stainless steel semi auto. Very large pistol, with a 8" barrel. A real handful.
I LOVE mine, very accurate, eats anything I feed it, with no complaints. Lifetime warranty.
About $ 400
After I put the Leupold VX-III on it, it is a varmints worst nightmare.
Very happy with it.
I also have one of the new High Standard built AMT Automag II's
Another Stainless semi auto.
Beautiful gun. Was really picky about ammo at first. Sent it back twice. After about 500 rounds, it became much more forgiving. I am now happy with it.
Accuracy ok, but eill not compete with the Excel.
About $ 700
Usually a wait to get one. I waited about 4 months to get mine after I paid for it.
So watch out for that.
I would not be afraid to suggest either one to an interested buyer.

Excel also had a blurb on their web site about making a 1911 conversion kit to 22wmr.
EDIT - And the Savage Stryker (or Striker) was avail in 22mag0 -

Volquartson has the "Predator" which is a "Charger" type .22 magnum pistol based on its own manufacture Ruger 10-22 clone receiver.
At over $1500, they're not exactly cheap, but these ought to be match-quality in every way (barrel, trigger, etc).
Unlike Ruger (which no longer manufactures 10-22s in .22 magnum), I believe Volquartson does still offer custom rifles in .22 magnum as well.
