Which States restrict purchasing a 50 BMG?

Hello,

I have a Barrett 50 BMG I'm selling on Gun Broker and I"m wondering which States prohibit me selling / shipping to a prospective buyer?

Any help would be appreciated.

    Agree - CA prohibits sale of rifles chambered for the 50 BMG and the Barrett would fall into that category. I don't think any other states ban or restrict the 50 BMG.

    Here's a quote from section 53-202a of the Connecticut state statutes:

    So the Barrett model 82A1 only in 50 BMG only is specifically banned. I don't suppose converting it (however superficially) to non-semi auto is feasible? Converting it to "pull action" means it's not capable of semi auto fire which would mean it's not covered by the list?

    One would think that the Barrett M95 (5 round bolt action repeater) would be allowed. (You would also save around $ 4,000.00 plus the cost of conversion.) Apparently the restriction is the semi-auto nature rather than the caliber.

    there's an interesting story about barrett and cali;
    the state decided to ban the gun but cali LE wanted to buy some. barrett refused to sell them any and sent a letter to LE and the state explaining why. I used to have a copy of the letter, but can't find it right now. if i remember right, he said if the state didn't respect the 2nd ammendment, he didn't want their business.

    CAs ridiculous passing of this silly feel good legislation will do nothing to prevent any crime, as none has occurred where a .50 BMG caliber weapon has been used.

    Due to this recent legislation 'ol Ma Deuce had to go into seclusion.[V]MaDeuce.jpg

    Actually, the M2 is not included in the CA ban because according to CA law it is not a rifle. And the 50 BMG round isn't banned per se, just rifles chambered in the 50 BMG. A rifle in CA is defined as a shoulder fired weapon - and the M2 definitely doesn't meet that criteria.

    I believe they also wanted to have some of their existing Barretts repaired - and Barrett said "NO". Good for him.

    Doug..... I bought this just before they ban went into effect thinking it would be banned. I learned later it didnt qualify since its not a rifle. I can directly blame the Governator for the sale of this gun.
