Weihrauch Revolver question

Hi, i am researching this for a buddy of mine. He just picked up a Weihbauch revolver chambered in .38 special, witha 6" barrel. I know these guns do not hold a lot of value from researching these weapons. however, this one is a little different than others that i have seen. The main difference, is the grip of this gun has a right hand only grip on it (there is a thumb rest on the left, and indentation for your hand on the right side of the grip). the marks stamped on the weapon are "H. Weihrauch, Mellrichstadt, Germany". it does not specify west or east germany ( I think Mellrichstadt is west germany if it is post ww2).

There is also wear from normal use, however the gun is fully functional (except for a broken sight).

Has anyone come across anything like this before ? if it wasn't for the right hand only grip, i wouldn't of thought anything of it. If requested, i can post pictures.

    Sounds like an Arminius HW-38 that has been fitted with a set of target stocks. There are a variety of Weihbauch revolvers out there in different calibers and barrel lengths. These are all good solid pistols but as you are already aware, they have no collector interest.

    Hello after the 1968 gun control act some pistols that did not meet import spec did the cheapest thing possible to make the quota of good points to be allowed to be imported again it this case Target type grips gave them theses needed points.

    thank you for your info. Also, i was wondering if you guys know of a place to get the replacement sights for the back of the gun, this one has one broken off. The firearm is in excelent shape, and fully functional.

    Just as an aside- Weihrauch is German for frankincense.

    First place I'd look for the sights are gunpartscorp- e-gunparts.com.
