Speed Bead
Does anyone here have any experience with one of these? I am interested in putting one on my 870 for shooting slugs. I am trying to think of the problems I could have with it if I switched barrels to a smoothbore for other use. When you switch barrels, does its point of aim change? It doesn't look like that big of a deal taking the site on and off, but it is rather expensive at $3 per shot. Also, will the rifle sights be in the way of the red dot?

I assume you are referring to the burris halo sight attached to the receiver? Shotgun barrels do not fit tightly to the receivers. Not a fault just the nature of the weapon. Purchase a barrel with the scope/ mount attached. These are quite inexpensive in the 870, and will eliminate the problem. As far as the speed bead for shotgunning (my opinion) forget it. True shotgunning is done with both eyes on the target, lead and follow thru along with correct stock fit will produce better results. 0
