Slug question

I have a Marlin Model 90 O/U 16 ga, early 60's vintage. Is it safe to shoot modern deer slugs in this weapon?

    I'm going to be in a shotgun area for opening day this year. I have a 24" Mossberg rifled bbl. on my 870 12ga. 2 3/4" - 3". What would be a good slug for a range of 100 yards or less? And what sort of drop can I expect? Thanks for the advice.

    16 Ga. ammo has not changed very much since the 1960's My take is YES if your model 90 is in good condition. it should be fine with factory loads.
