Need to go through FFL for a .22 Marlin?

Was just curious about this cause I am being told two different things so wanted to ask here to know for sure?

    It can go to a C&R holder if it's more than 50 years old. In-state transactions depend on your particular state laws.

    Face to face transactions within a state are legal under FEDERAL law, but you must check state and local laws to be sure you are legal in those jurisdictions. Go here: http://www.atf.gov/publications/firearms/ and scroll down to State Laws and published ordinances for the state regs.

    I suppose actually telling us which state you are in is out of the question, even though state laws on private firearms transfers vary widely and are not one size fits all.

    Not at all.. State is Michigan

    When in doubt, be sure. Use a ffl dealer and stay safe.

    MI face to face is fine for any firearm (no dealer required), with the crevat that the purchaser needs a "permit to purchase" for handguns.
