I'm trying to swap stocks on an SKS.
I bought an SKS with a Fixed/Folding Ultralight Stock equipped. I'm trying to swap that stock out with the original wood stock. The thing is though, there's a button you have to press on the back of the trigger guard. However, with the pistol grip on the equipped stock I can't get to the button. Any ideas on a good tool or something I can use to reach it reach the button and be able to press it in fully?

i used a scratch awl i had from sheet metal work you may have to bend it or look for a phillips screwdriver in a bent shape 0 -
Yeah,
That button is not easy to push in. You need a punch or something similar you can get in there and push on. I hate to say it, but last time I took mine apart, I had to tap the punch with a hammer to get it to pop. Good thing is, those guns are sturdy. Don't be afraid of it, with enough pressure, it will move.0 -
the buttom pushs down and then up, put the stock on the floor and take a screw driver and push down and pull barrel forward with the safty on and the rifle will come apart. 0 -
So wait, do you press the button towards the trigger or do you press it a different way? 0 -
Yep, I just did mine last night, took a little bit of effort but I found that if I used a prick punch and a nylon mallet it came out. I think my poly stock was jammed on instead of worked on to size it properly. Once I got it apart I put some penetrating oil in the pin hole and cleaned behind the breakdown pin. I've seen videos on YouTube that show the process of disassembly and reassembly and they are using some force to to do this.
