    Based on the information you provided, about all I can tell you is that your rifle was manufactured in early 1918. Barrels were often produced several months prior. Your serial number puts the rifle in with those that are considered unsafe to shoot; that doesn't, however, mean that it is not collectible or without value.

    We really can't tell much else without photos. If every marking cannot be easily read, then the photos won't help us.

    Your gunsmith should have given you the Muzzle Wear measurement when he inspected it; if he didn't, you might want to go back & ask him to gauge the barrel.
