what's an FFL

folks,

i'm attempting to sell my .257 roberts mauser and surveyed the sellers video...

i'm still very unclear on how and where the weapon moves through this process. for example what is an FFl and does it cost? i understand certain legalities have to be met but the faq i've so far seen leaves a lot of things out or is unclear.

i'm unlikely to buy a blue book for rifles for a single sale. so would rather post images and have an expert appraise my bob...

is this acceptable on the proper forums?

    Welcome to the forums here on Gunbroker.

    There is a stiky at or near the top of the Ask the Experts forum, that explains down loading photo's. You need to have a photohosting website such as photobucket to post photo's on the forums.

    A FFL is a Federal Firearms License. As a seller, you will need to send your Bob to the buyers FFL dealer after the sale is completed, if the buyer lives far enough away that a face to face transfer can not be done, or the buyer lives in another state.

    if i'm selling i'll be sending it to the buyers FFL... kind of a firearms forwarder. excellent.

    just wasn't sure what obligations i was responsible for.

    my 257 roberts is a fine old Mauser given to me by a friend. i'm getting too old to hunt and would rather part with it.

    i've got a web service so can post as many images as necessary to illuminate the workmanship on this rifle.

    i've been advised to use gunbroker and it appears to be a responsible service.

    You may also have to have your local FFL ship it to the buyer's FFL dealer. Some dealers will not or can not accept firearms from unlicensed individuals, depending on state or local laws or simply the receiving dealer's policies.

Some dealers will not or can not accept firearms from unlicensed individuals, depending on state or local laws or simply the receiving dealer's policies."............just state in your discription that you do not have a ffl, and the buyers ffl must accept from a 'non-ffl' or pay extra for you to ship threw a local ffl.
