That would be .250-3000, now called .250 Savage. First chamberd in the Savage model 99.

It's also called a 250 Savage. A nice round it fits somewhere between the 25-35W or 25 Rem and the 250 Roberts.

I have never heard of that cartridge being chambered in any lever action except the Savage 99.

    Did Marlin?

I believe it was the 1st cartrridge to achieve the 3000 fps. speed. I also believe it has a pointed tip and cant be used in tubular magazines.

    woodshed87,

With the very limited information you supply, all anyone can do is speculate & wonder.

To my knowledge, Marlin never has chambered one of their lever guns for the 250 Savage (aka 250-3000). The only 25 caliber chamberings I know of are 25-36 (an obsolete cartridge) in the Model 1893 & the 25-20 (aka 25 WCF) in the Model 1894.

Recheck the markings for both model & caliber on the gun & repost them as they appear, then we will be able to help further.

As for value, pictures in focus & detailed will be required.

To the best of my knowledge, no, I believe Cussedemgun is correct, but I sure don't know every thing and have not checked Brophy. Perhaps the lever was a Savage misremembered as a Marlin?
