Largo Conversion for Star Mod A to 9mm Luger
I need to find somebody capable of doing a conversion for me. Is there a community of 9MM largo shooters or a community of gunsmiths that do conversions. etc?. Anybody, if you can ook me up I appreciate it.

The Model A is one of the older Star's dating to the 20's. To have a knowledgeable gunsmith sleeve your barrel/chamber for 9mm would probably cost more then the pistol is worth. A spacer would have to be added to the back of the magazine also to insure the correct feeding of the shorter 9mm Luger cartridges.
Reloading would be a much cheaper and less costly option. Starline makes 9mm super comp brass which is identical to 9mm Largo. All the other components are the standard ones used for 9mm.0 -
I have a Destroyer in 9MM Largo and have had no problem at all finding ammo for it. The price from Lone Mountain Outfitters http://www.longmountain.com/Ammo/9mm-largo/ was so reasonable that I stopped reloading for it. 0 -
After a little research I would recommend just leaving it a 9MM Largo. If you want a 9MM Luger suggest buying a Sig. 0 -

I've got star 'supers' in both 9mm luger and 9mm largo that use the same magazines and work well. start line alsomakes the properly headstamped brass for the largo and several places have surplus ammo for it. 0 -
What will a gun smith charge to make the conversion? Buy a new barrel and you will have both. 0 -
Many years ago I made a spacer for an Astra 400 from a slice I cut from a steel 9MM Luger case. It was a simple job and worked for the 10 years I owned it. 0
