cabelas bore sighter

has anyone ever used the cabelas $40.00, .22-.50 cal. laser bore sighter? if so, does it work, and is it worth buying? thanks.

    A "Mark 1 eyeball" cost's nothing, and always works.
    The problem with any laser device is alignment, rotate them 180^ in the bore and they don't always point to the same place. add in adapters and the alignment problem gets worse, not better
    No matter what method you use, you still need to "put lead on paper" to insure that your hitting where you want.

    I'll use the laser for mounting a new scope, just to get it close. Sight it in on range then come home and put the collimator on and record. Every year I then put the collimator back on to check zero and then fire two rounds. Always hit where it supposed to.

    I picked up one in the bargin cave at sydney, and couldnt even get it to turn on. bought new batteries, still no work. so dont know, sure would be handy for sighting in ARs m1as and other rifles with flash suppresors.

    If it is the one with the rods that go into the bore it is junk.The laser is not centered and you have to adjust it with a allen wrench and had a lot of problem doing that.

    i just got one from cdnn. piece o crap. thought i was crazy so i put it in a zeroed rifle and it was WAY off

    I have never used any bore sighter that did anything more then just got things close. $40 will buy you a general old style kit that covers all calibers and doesn't need batteries.

    You need the kind that goes in the chamber and comes in a specific caliber or has arbors. Eye ball method works great ..... until you need to bore sight an M1A. At $2+ per shot for factory ammo, my .300 WSM arbor quickly paid for itself.
