Scope Base Help Needed!
My son's deer rifle was stolen earlier this year in a burglary and was recovered last week, and now is missing the scope, rings, and scope base. It's a long story, but at least we have the rifle back now (his pride and joy), and the perp has an arrest warrant out on him.
Anyway, the rifle is a sporterized Chilean mauser in 7x57. The rifle reads "Mauser Chileno Modelo 1895 Manufactura Loewe Berlin" on the receiver. There are three existing 1/8" holes. Two of these holes are 7/8" apart, and the total distance between the 3 drill holes is 5 1/4".
I'm not concerned about finding a scope or rings, but finding the base with those dimensions might be. I have been to a couple of local gun shops and have been unsuccessful finding a base.
I looked on Redfield's web site at http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=197509
That one looked like it might fit--same looking screw pattern-and says it fits a "Mauser FN" but thought maybe someone on the GB forum might know exactly what base it would be with the dimensions listed above.
I don't want to have to have it re-drilled and tapped, if at all possible.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

bnailon,
Product # 197509 is for a M98 (large ring) Mauser
Go back to www.midwayusa.com & search for item # 474732
You're looking for a base to fit the small ring Mauser (M93 thru M96)
The difference is the front reciever ring diameter. The Redfield base I referenced is contoured to fit your gun, but the overall distance for the three hole pattern measures 5 5/32 (5.156")
If your gun hole pattern does not match, I would be an easy fix to weld the hole in the new base & drill to match the gun.
