Value Japanese Replica: Charter Arms AR-7

Well, I (100% legally) purchased this at an estate auction thinking it was an actual Charter Arms AR-7. Once I got it home and was more carefully reviewing it discovered it is actually a non-firing replica made in Japan. I am considering selling it but want to know what its value is first. I've looked in the GB non-firing section and have not seen one to compare against.

I have the original factory box, factory manual (in Japanese) and it seems to be complete. Photos below:

    Interesting[:)] piece there. Never seen one in replica. Value,,hmmm, that would be a tough one to figure out.You could put it up here and see what the market will bring. Thanks for the look see...nambu

    OK, seriously, in Japan, replica guns are highly popular. . .because they aren't allowed to own the real thing. (They even go so far as to serial number the replicas!).

    In the USA, not so much, and I don't think AR-7 replicas, in particular are going to be all that desirable.

    In general, price of these depends mostly on the maker (some are more highly prized than others), and condition. You definitely want the original box and papers for maximum value, which fortunately you have.

    I'd say the best (and possibly only) way to really figure out what its worth is to sell it at auction and let the market decide.

    As a point of consideration, used ACTUAL AR-7 guns can be had for about $150. So I'll guesstimate $50 for yours. . .but you never know.

    Did it come with plastic shells? When I was a kid I had toy guns that shot plastic bullets. It was spring powered (in the shell) that would project about 10 feet and drop [:D]. Think a cork gun with no string.

    Now in the second pic of the barrel is that paper? Run a barrel brush through and see if it'll clear.

    In the last pic there is a diagram (rightest paper) has a similar shell/projectile which I spoke of ealier. Yours might have a clear/opaque pellet (shaped like a sabot).

    No, this won't fire anything down the barrel at all. There are built in "obstructions" at both the action end and the exit-end of the barrel.

    Thanks for all the info. Does anybody know what are the regs regarding shipping to Japan if I should try to sell it and get a japanese buyer?

    I couldn't image there is any regulation on shipping a "toy" internationally.

    Dean there are a bunch of bench rest shooters in Japan. So there should be others and some Clubs. Google something like gun clubs japan etc. Then contact them and ask.
