on the 9MM pistol topic.

I don't much like double action pistols, nor do I care for the 9MM as a self defense round, so naturally I know next to nothing about them.

    You're welcome.

    You don't really need to know anything about 9mms, as most makers guns nowadays have .45, .40, and 9mm counterparts. If you want a single-action 9mm, they're available too (and CZ-75 is effectively single action OR double action. . .you can carry it cocked and locked if you like).

    IMO the best 9mm guns are European designs (eg SIG, CZ,
    Walther, I reluctantly admit that this would include Glock [;)], etc).

    Personally I like 9mms and I think the round is unrealistically denigrated. A 9mm+P gives you 75% of the power of a .357 magnum with a similar sized bullet in a gun that offers less recoil and potentially up to 3x the capacity.

    Trading off a bit of power for higher capacity, lower recoil/faster followup shots, and cheaper ammo is likely a worthwhile tradeoff for many shooters.

    Put differently, if 9mms suck so badly, why do 90% of the police and military on the planet use them?

    Those selections are made by bribed politicians, I think.

    Still, my ol' 9MM Hi Power would be pretty lethal.

    Especially since I found out that my skills are still pretty good, last week.

    Although...I truly love that Super...

    In all the years I've been shooting - 50+ - I had never shot one til I bought the Commander a few months ago.

    What a revelation !!

    And...no one ever talks about them.

    They are accurate, powerful and have easier recoil than the nines I've shot.

    Can't figger out why they are not WAY more popular.

    Blows my skirt clean up around my ears.

    GREAT cartridge.

    I will buy more of them.
