K-Hornet
Can you ream a .22 hornet out to khornet? Will the khornet cycle thru bolt action or any other action of original .22 hornet? If there is another round that you could use to bump up muzzle velocity, trajectory and impact of .22 hornet by reaming the chamber what would it be. Would you have to re-barrel?[:p]

Yes you can and you will love it.
I reamed the chamber on a Hornet to K-Hornet using a rented reamer, by hand turning it. I was very careful in controlling the depth the reamer went in, following the advice of mrbruce to the letter. It was also amazing how easily the reamer cut the barrel steel. Of course, I poured a lot of cutting oil in while turning the reamer to assure chips got flushed out.
After it was done the chamber looked like a mirror. 22 Hornet ammo fire-forms to the K-hornet just fine. The extra performance from the K-hornet was very nice. My barrel loved Lil-Gun powder and Small pistol primers.0 -
Yes, Yes, and No, there is not. Keep in mind that the 22 Hornet is a rimmed case, whereas most other popular 22 centerfire cartridges are not. If you did change to a different cartridge, in addition to a different barrel, you would need a new bolt, and a different magazine. 0 -
Hi hoghead2. Actually there is a round you can use to bump up the velocity, but it takes a little more work. Its the 30 Carbine case. Basically the same rim size. Either necking it to 22 if you want to use the original barrel...will require a little barrel set back, or my favorite a .19 Badger. 32 gr bullet at 3550 fps. But it requires a new barrel. 0
