Value of Colt Pistols

Hello, I inherited some guns from my father. I have a couple Colts that I need more precise information on and a value is possible. I hope I can get the pics of both in this one thread. If not just browse them on photobucket, they are tagged. The 1st from his very brief description of it is a 1851 Navy with 2nd rarest front sight. Not sure what that means but here are some pics.

I'm having issues with getting the photos on here in a clickable thumb. I have more if you need them.
Next I have what I believe is a 1849 .31 cal Pocket revolver.

Again I have more pictures if I can figure out how to get the thumbnails to work properly I'll get them on here. I am just wondering what these are exactly and what they are worth so I can post them. Thank you,

    You are very fortunate to inherit such nice guns. I hope you don't intend to sell them, and instead keep handing them down in the family as your dad did.

    Unfortunately I have no one to leave them to. I have 1 daughter 21 and she has no interest in guns. I would rather sell them to someone with a collection to hand down to their child or children.

    very nice as they are 150 years old I agree if they have been in your family . I to have a daughter and son in law with no interest but I do have a 3 year old grandson [^]. sometimes interest will skip a generation.. once they are sold you can never get them back. That said I am sure you you will not see them sell for anywhere near as much today as they would have brought 5 years ago or 5 years from now.IMHO it is a buyers market I think $1000.00 + on the Navy and $500.00 + or - on the pocket.

    EDIT Please come back to this post and give us An auction number if you list them here My suggestion is NOT to list with a reserve This might sound contrary to what you think is best However because of the fact that one can relist, for free Many reserve items have been listed on this site for months if not years most real buyers do not look at ANY reserve auctions. also the lower you start the price the more bids you will get and end results will be at a higher price then starting at a high price. I hope others will post here to confirm my advice.

    They have not been in the family. My Father bought and sold antiques and guns for a living. He traveled all over doing so. Thanks for the price range. It will help when I list them.

    Thanks Perry. I was planning on not having a reserve. I do a lot of buying and selling online but just not on this sight yet. I have plenty of good feedback I can provide too. I don't like reserve auctions myself. I will post the Auction info in this thread if that is allowed. Thanks again,

    Lots of folks are hurting money wise now. Wait a couple of years, unless you have to sell them now for the money. Being antique Colts, if they are original, they are money in the bank, and will just go up in value, IMHO.

    Hey Brian, I think Perry is on the money with the value of the 1851 navy. But I've got a gut feeling that the pocket may be worh more than the navy.

    Do yourself a favor and call the folks at The Jackson Armory in Dallas Texas. Just Google them for their number and info on them. They are really good people and won't mind helping one bit.

    Very, very nice! Take your daughter to the range and let her punch some holes in paper with a 22. I did that to mine and damned if she didn't change her mind and start to enjoy it. The 22 is important because of low recoil and high probability of hitting some good shots. Kinda like golf, in that respect. Good Luck.
