Winchester Model 12 12 Guage

I have a Winchester Model 12 12 guage shotgun that has a manufacture date of 1926. I checked the serial number with Winchester. It is in good, operable condition, all the wood is in good condition, but needs to be re-blued. I am trying to find a retail value for this gun, as I have someone that wants to buy it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    If it is a "Model 12", it was not made in the year 1914. All of the early (pre-1920) manufactured guns were clearly marked "MODEL 1912".

    Regardless of how the gun is marked, an original Winchester should not ever be "reblued"... unless your goal is to forever and permanently remove it from being a "collectable" Winchester, and to immediately reduce the value by at least 50% (not including the cost of having it refinished).

    Please post pictures of your gun, as that will allow us to properly evaluate it.

    Sorry, I changed the manufacture date to 1926. The 1914 date was for a different gun.

    It appears that someone tried to re-blue it many years ago. There is no noticeable rust to the gun though. Sorry, but that's really all I can tell you.

    From what I remember my grandfather telling me, he used it for hunting, as did my dad. Not sure I want to sell it, but if the price is right, maybe. I will try to get some photos posted tomorrow.

    I don't plan on touching the gun, as far as any re-furbishing. I think it is awesome just the way it is, but I can not undo what may have been done in the past.

    A reblued 1926 vintage Model 12 is purely a "shooter" at this point, and It will have little value outside of its sentimental value to your family.
