Winchester Serial Number, Data,Bert, Pauline, etc.

I'm new to this forum, but I want to thank you for your knowledge and your willingness to unselfishly give of your knowledge to all who seek your help.
I now own 33 Winchester levers. All are 73's, 76, 86's, 92's and 94's. The latest serial number on any of them is 1906. I got my first one in 1981 (a standard '92 in 38-40 from 1895) and number 33 just came in ('94 in 32WS, special sights, 1/2 round, button mag from 1903) in the last couple of weeks (you helped me with the magazine question I had).
I have the Madis Book (signed) and two other very detailed Winchester references. Over the years I have spent countless hours reading them and looking at the pictures.
I think I know something about Win's but I am awed by your knowledge. To be able to ask an expert and get a quick detailed response is something that is pleasantly unexpected.

I'm with ya Tim, Bert was kind enough to send me some info on 92&94 date of manf, it's been a great help. One day, I'm going to catch him at at a Portland show, shake his hand and buy him an adult beverage, or two. He, and Pauline are assets to this forum that could not be replaced.

Dear Fellow Gun Collectors,
Not to long ago, I stumbled upon a very rare model 1885 Highwall Winchester in 40-90 BN Sharps caliber. Out of curiousity, I noitced that Mr. Bert Hartman of Cody Firearms had listed a very long list of all the calibers that these guns were chambered in, including how many guns were made in each caliber. I looked for my caliber and noticed that there were only two made. I was exstatic to see that my gun appeared to be of a very rare express caliber, with only two being made. I lettered the gun through Cody and also shared this rifle with Mr. Hartman whos is, in the future, completing a book on the model 1885 Winchester rifles which will also include mine.
I also would like to share with my fellow gun collectors is that I am extremely thankful that Mr. Hartman took the time, which would have been countless hours, to go through the model 1885 records and not only count up the calibers and the guns made for each, but for posting this information, absolutely free of charge to his fellow gun collectors.
Thank you Mr. Bert Hartman, we truly do appreciate all of the hard work that you have done to support us in the model 1885 Winchester.

Welcome to the "Experts" Forum here on Gunbroker.
Having people on your list like Bert is as rare as your Winchester. If you noticed in his signature line, he also has a very rare 1885. When you say "shared it with him", you let him handle your rifle?
We are very fortunate in this column to have the expertise in many fields. We have people like Bert in other fields, Like JustC, Nononsense, and Sandwarrior to name a few, who generously bend over backwards to help those who earnestly want help, and information.

One minor comment to Lew's post... I am not "of Cody Firearms". I visit there, and work down in the Research office as a volunteer for several weeks each June. 0
