Check the on-line auctions, for actual selling prices. S & W made and sold many many thousands during the Dirty Harry craze in the 70's. Dealers couldn't keep them in stock, and were bootleging them at hundreds of dollars over the quoted MSRP price. Lot of folks shot them once if at all with hot .44 Mag ammo, then never touched them again.

I have one, here's a good guess. If you're in CA I'd say you can get $900.00, outside CA probably $750.00. The 8 3/8" bbl isn't the most popular. 0 -
Doug has given you good advice, the money is in 4" 29s. That said, the -2 is suposedly the best of the pre lock 29s, and you should be able to get $700-$750 if it is as you descibe. Good luck.
