Remington 600 Magnum
Hi. I am looking for a cheap Remington 600 in a magnum bolt face. I do not care about the overall condition, as I am planning to heavily modify it into a lightweight mountain rifle in .721 Tomahawk. Can anyone help me???

You really got your work cut out for you! "Cheep" and Remington 600 Mag, are two diametrical opposites. Unless you find some guy with one who just fell off a Turnip wagon, not going to happen. 0 -
I agree with rufe.
These seem to be quite desirable and in demand. My brother has at least one in 6.5 Remington Magnum, and maybe more, but I do not believe that it would be cheap to buy them from him.0 -
Welcome to the forum blueddeke. I guess it depends on how you define cheap...but a Remington 600 will most like not be found cheap. You can look on the for sale side for successfully completed sale to get an idea what you will pay. Good luck and welcome to the forum again. 0 -

If I am not mistaken it is Lazzeroni's Short Fat Magnum in 7mm or 30 cal bore diameter.
What is wrong with a 673, or a 700 short action for this purpose...less expensive.

I had a Physics prof who was reminding us constantly to 'mind our decimal points' when preparing answers and proofs. This applies in all areas of our world, the 7.21 Tomahawk is the cartridge you are looking for, I believe.
Here is the reality of your request for information:
There is rarely, if ever, going to be a 'cheap' Remington M600 rifle or action unless it's by sheer happenstance or stupidity.
There is no sense in trying to locate some fictitious 'cheap' M600 and then putting untold amounts of money into one by 'heavily modifying' it.
If your goal is to have a short magnum, lightweight mountain rifle, your best choice will be to get a Remington M700 in one of the short mags and simply rebarrel to either the 7mm RSAUM or the 7mm WSM. This will save you a significant amount of money in modifications and time but still allow you a good receiver for a fine lightweight rifle. The geometry of feeding the stubby cases is not easily managed by most people so getting one right from the factory will save you a bunch of grief.
The Model Seven will allow the same thing but with less access to aftermarket parts.
The Lazzeroni ballistics are a little 'overzealous', shall we say. John has some very specific parameters that he uses for getting those velocities and the pressures are not polite. The expense of using his proprietary brass will far exceed the reasonable prices for either the RSAUM or the WSM brass with very comparable ballistics.
We use the both the 7mm RSAUM and the 7mm WSM for long range tactical/target rifles and we're winning competitions.

Nothing is wrong with either of those rifles. I am specfically looking for the model 600 because I have two others in .222 Rem Mag. I like the gun and the compact dog leg bolt. More nostalgia than anything else....I like "different" guns a calibers. I am kind of a freak that way. [:)]

If you like Remington 600s then go for it, buy as many as you can afford, but I don't think cheap will be part of the process...but certainly good luck! 0
