Are these real South African 308s?
Hi,
I bought 2x ammo cans (9x 140rnds (7x 20) packs per ammo can). There were advertised and sold as South African. However, I have some quick questions ... the battle packs are not the brown bags that you see everywhere for SA Ammo but clear sealed bags with 7x 20rnd sealed boxes. each box of 20rnds has a label on top of what seems to have been the original one ... the new label reads "20 Rounds 308 WIN" ....
Are these the real thing? At the bottom of each casing it says "WA80 7.62 R1M1" ... Is there any way to know if these were reloaded rounds?
Please see the attached picture...these are exactly the one I bought. (This is the picture posted where I bought them from)

The plastic is not original.
If you showed a pic of the rounds we might be able to tell. Make sure to show the primer and where the bullet seats.
I can not remember if any of mine are relabled on top like that, I can look in a couple of days.0 -
it is south african 0 -
Here are some photos .... thanks for your help...

I have no reason to believe those are reloads since the 3 primer "crimps" are intact and so is the purple primer sealer.
I have not seen them in the clear bags so I can not say if they came like that or if they were repacked like that from a vendor or a 3 party seller.
If you are going to list them for sale come back and post a link for the auction here and it might get you a few more hits depending on price.0 -
Thanks. I will post the auction later. 0 -
Went to my So. African battle-packs, and:
1. Paper boxes, identical.
2. Label remnant underneath the '308' label is marked in accordance with So. African labelling format.
3. Mine has the purple stamped lot no. and the factory/date in the same place as yours.
You have So. African military ammo to NATO specs! Give 'da man a see-gar!!0
