Automatic firearms
I am just wondering what are the states that you are you allowed to own a automatic firearm; how many out of 50 and what are the states that automatic weapons illegal

At last count there are 42 states where private ownership of machine guns is at least possible, although in many cases the hoops are so extreme that no one can jump through them. CA is a good example: A permit exists for a private individual to posses a machine gun but no such permits are ever issued to private persons.
You are pretty much out of luck in CA, Delaware, Hawaii, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, Iowa, and Washington.0
