Sir, You seem to be the resident expert on the m1 garand. I got a Winchester M1 at an estate sale ser # 1499xx, bolt isD 28287-1WRA, OPRod is D 35382WRA, Hammer is D 45008-1WRA, Trigger housing is
D 28290WRA, rear sight is lockbar type, receiver group is marked D28291-2, the wood is in perfect shape (dark) with a VERY light SA mark on the left side and a P on the bottom. The bbl is SA 6535448
9 66 BU 34, The trigger guard is unmarked. The receiver group, stock group and trigger group fit together very well. Other than the stock and bbl, can you tell how close to original this is? What else do I need to look for? Could be somone started a restoration and lost interest? Thank you for any information you can provide.

IMHO All of the sticky's are VERY helpful what one person thinks is needed another person may not. It seems to me that most questions that are asked by new members seem to be about Serial numbers and date that a gun was built or questions about Value. Both subjects are covered by Sticky .But is asked over and over mostly by new members. This again IMHO is the best forum site of any gun related subjects it just takes some getting use to . It would be a 24/7 job to have a MOD intercept every post before it was shown to the other members. AS far as I know being a MOD. is not a real high paying JOB.

    8 stickies is too many?

On top of that the titles are pretty descriptive of what they are.

If anyone actually read the stickies I would not receive e-mails from angry guys wondering why their posts were locked.

(Crying) "I don't see why my post on (take your pick) was locked, there was nothing offensive in it. You guys are just being mean to me because I am a newbie".

    The list goes on.

Mark- I feel your pain. I am a mod on another question site- and the most common question asked is "How much is my gun, Sn 54134, worth, and when was it made?"- despite a VERY informative sticky on finding the worth of a gun, and date of manufacture. And you are right- pay sux. PS. 2nd most frequent question deals with felons and firearms.

Foxbat try sounding the words out one at a time. I read the stickies, they are useful, we refer newbie posters who can't seem to figure out how to post a photo to the stickie everyday (I have to look when I post a photo too, so I like it).

    foxbat3,

Once you become familiar with the world of firearms, you will appreciate every one of them sticky's. Each and every one mean something to someone about something. Further more it is tabbed on what the sticky is about...Winchester 94 stats, Class III, posting photo's, etc...so yes they are all relevant, and there could be use for some more topics.
