Favorite, Least Favorite Gun(s) You Have Owned?

For me, it's a three way tie between a k98, M-1 Garand and AR-15 for favorite.

Least favorite is an AK 47.

Reasons for these choices: 1) the k98 shoots very well and just seems like someone really put some thought into designing it, 2) the Garand has a lot of history and 8 rds. of .30-06 is terrific and 3) I love the bolt/bolt assembly design of the AR-15.

I may have been brainwashed, but I hate the AK 47 with a passion, because it is inaccurate.

I grew up being told that the AK 47 is a good for nothing piece of junk, and...well, when I shoot it I just give up all hope of anything good appearing on the target. (I need help, I know).

    mine is my grandfather's winchester model 67 just because of the thought.and as bert says real men shoot single shot winchester's. although a.22 kevin

    An El Tigre (Model 92 copy)in 44-40, beautiful on the outside but crude & handmade inside.
    In spite of a beautiful bore, it didn't shoot worth a darn.
    I couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

    Least favorite HAS to be a Taurus PT111. This alleged pistol had without a doubt the WORST trigger since I last used cap pistols. I did not fire a full magazine through it before it was traded for a NIB SIG P225. I've got a lot of favorites, mostly manufactured before 1930. Sorry AR fans, but I CANNOT tolerate a gun without a nice wood stock. Just gettin' old.

    my most favorite gun would have to be a Winchester 70 XTR in 300 H&H. That was almost sexual to pull the trigger on that rifle. The first time I pulled the trigger on it, I hit a 1 gallon milk jug with open sights at 160 yards. I thought it was a fluke, so my brother, who shoots left handed shot the 2nd round through it at another milk jug at the same distance, and vaporised it as well. My least favorite was a Ruger 77, 200th year in 257 Roberts. The gun shot like crap, no matter the handload, even after having it glass bedded and barrel floated. Totally unacceptable accuracy. i finally got fed up with it, and re-sold it to some unfortuneate who wanted it for collection purposes. That's about all it was good for.

    Least favorite: Kel-Tec p40 (rare .40 caliber version of P11, since discontinued). Jams frequently, and at 11 ounces with .40SW and a non-ergonomic grip, has the harshest recoil of any pistol I've ever fired. I'd rather be firing full-house .44 magnums.

    My wife and I had a pair of these (non-consecutive or we'd still have them) that we used to hunt antelope in Wyoming for several years. They both shot 1" - 1 1/4" with handloads. For some reason, both the rifles accuracy went to hell. They would not shoot in 4" for either of us or for good marksmen at our range. I had one glass bedded with no change. We really liked the rifles, but with unacceptable accuracy they were traded.

    My least favorites would have to include two Ruger No. 1s. While I like the appearance, for me, these two were not useful. And I also know that many people love them, and have been able to get excellent accuracy from them. But for me, as Townsend Whelen once said, "Only accurate rifles are interesting".

    The first of these was a 200th year No. 1V in 22-250, out of the box new. It would not come close to 1MOA accuracy, and I tried many factory and handloads in it. It was more like 2 or 2.5 MOA. In a VARMINTER!!

    The second was a new standard in .204. While it would sometimes approach 1MOA accuracy, that was not acceptable to me for this rifle, in that cartridge.

    I believe the lock times are slow on these, and the bedding system is problematic.

    I have to agree. I own one of the early 10 22s and a later stainless steel version. They are not that accurate.

    favorite winchester 94 lever, 1960 production.
    least favorite; glock 22 (40cal)- one of the few guns i've ever sold.

    an Ithaca x5 lightning 22 auto god i hated that gun 3 jams per 5 shot clip, accuracy was fair. compared to my buddy's remington nylon 66 it was really junk
