.303 savage model 99 ..sights?
can any expert inform me on the proper Front sight height of the .303 savage model 99 with a half round - half octagon 24" barrel...? (express sights)

I don't know if they're all necessarily the same but here's mine. 
It's a Savage 1899, 1/2 round barrel, 303 Savage caliber, SN 15.9xx. If you can't see the ruler gradations well, it seems to measure 5/16" above the top of the barrel. Hope this helps some.

"The Ninety-Nine" book lists the model 1899C as having what they called a "Rocky Mountain knife-edge" front sight as the only front sight furnished on that rifle. Pretty cool old guns. 0 -

The only sight I see as standard on that rifle is "knife edged, dovetail". That's what the yooper has. There could have been modifications to the rifle over the years.0
