My grandfather gave me 2 guns, the first a single shot .22 Revelation Model 100a, and a Crescent Arms Co., Peerless model double barrell. Anybody have any info on either of these guns? Thanks

Both are fine looking guns. The rifle appears to be a German type, left hand target rifle. Can't make out the markings on the Derringer? Both have substantial potential value. Best thing would be to take them to a reputable dealer/collector for a hands-on appraisal.

Can't read the markings in the picture of the pistol.
If the name is actually spelled Deringer, that is correct. Derringer is an intentional misspelling by copiers of Henry Deringer's guns. There were copiers who dared spell it right, so that is no guarantee. We need an in-focus picture.

The Deringer does not have a ramrod because it was usual to let the dealer load the gun for you or to do it at home. Mr Deringer's shop had a range where you could practice with, clean, and reload your pocket gun(s).

The rifle is a German or at least Germanic styled scheutzen target rifle. It doesn't need a ramrod because it would have been shot only on the range with a heavy loading rod handy at the bench behind the firing line.

We managed to get some pics of the engraving. The pistol has "DERINGER" (R at end is thin). The rifle has "OBERHAMMER PATIENT MUNCHEN".

Henry Deringer,s original pistols had Philadelphia abbreviated after his name. Since this isn't found on yours it's probably a contemporary copy. Many manufacturers made replica knock-offs of his pistols during the 1850/60's time frame.
