Spring Kit for Rossi Revolver

Will a spring kit for a S&W J frame work in a Rossi Model 88? The guts look the same to me. Anyone have any experience with this?

    When you say "spring kit", what does that entail?

    I interchange springs from Rossi and S&W J, and then cut to the weight I need/want. It is a very easy process to cut down the hammer spring if you are only looking to drop a few pounds. The recommended method is to purchase the right spring and the ID is OK to use on both, not sure of the length.

    I want to reduce the trigger pull a bit. Which spring should I replace?

    Take the grip off. Pull the hammer back until you see a small hole thru the flat rod, use a "special tool" (known as a safety pin or paperclip)and insert it in the hole. Let the hammer fall back into position and pull out the entire spring and rod. Cut about 3 coils off the spring with a dremmel or other method. Now the hard part, push the spring back over the rod and insert the special tool. install back in gun and remove the special tool.

    ASSURE you don't cut to much off and assure you test fire the gun with the type ammo you will use so there is enough force to set off the primer.

    Or buy a lighter S&W J style spring and install as above without the cutting. Or take it to a gunsmith (recommended method) and they can do this in a matter of minutes.

    Ok,,, bad deal , Do Not Cut the Springs !!!!! thats a "bubba" gunsmith tactic ! buy the spring kit and or better yet , take it to a real gunsmith and have it done properly !!!!!!!!
